HOW TO DECIDE ON COMPOSITE OR PORCELAIN VENEERS

Composite is essentially a reinforced resin material. As dental research has exploded over the year it has become a much stronger and aesthetic material than before. The material itself is used directly on the tooth so there are no lab fees involved (hence the lower fee. this only applies to direct composite veneers.

However, with pressure composite veneers can wear out and are not as color stable or stain resistant as porcelain Most likely some staining and even mild chipping may occur over the years, which can be repaired with minimal difficulty. Porcelain veneers can mimic the natural tooth color more closely while providing a more durable longer lasting finish which will fracture less easily.

That being said, in most cases many patients are not looking to achieve the "Hollywood Smile" and bleach all their teeth to chiclet white. Many of our patients would like to have an affordable solution to their cosmetic needs when they notice a few teeth in the front of their mouth are starting to whither and chip away. If it would make you happy just to make your front teeth look nicer than it was without breaking the bank, composite veneers may be the choice for you.
